Lightweight performance shirts (under 4.5 oz)
Under 4.5 oz/yd², shirts stop being fabric and start being airflow. This is the range for summer 5Ks, sports practices, and roofing crews — always in wicking synthetics or featherweight blends.
Light fabric changes decoration: modest stitch counts, low-bleed inks, tested transfers.
How to choose
- Sell these on breathability and dry time, not durability — that is the heavyweight list.
- Keep embroidery light; the Conditional ratings below exist because dense fills pucker thin fabric.
What goes wrong
- Heavy left-chest embroidery on 3.8 oz interlock — stabilizer or not, it shows.
