Muscle Tee
A muscle tee is a sleeveless shirt with wide shoulder straps and deep, dropped armholes, cut looser through the sides than a standard tank top.
A muscle tee drops the sleeves entirely and opens the armhole deep, trading arm coverage for range of motion — the strap that's left is noticeably wider than a tank top's, usually 3 to 4 inches across the shoulder, and the armhole often drops low enough to show a slice of the ribs. That wider strap is what keeps a muscle tee from reading as a plain tank when it's on a hanger.
Bella+Canvas's 3483 jersey muscle tank and Next Level's 3633 are the two blanks that show up constantly in gym and festival merch runs, both cut from lightweight 4.2 oz jersey so the fabric moves with a lift or a dance floor instead of sticking to it. We stock more of these in June than any other month, almost entirely for CrossFit boxes and summer festival vendors.
That deep, open armhole changes the print math: a full front graphic has to sit narrower than it would on a standard tee, since the side panels curve in sharply below the strap, and anything printed too close to the armhole risks warping when the shirt stretches during a lift or a reach overhead.
Buyers regularly order a muscle tee expecting tank-top coverage through the torso and are surprised by how much side skin shows — the dropped armhole is the whole point of the cut, not an oversight, and it's not the shirt to pick if the design needs to run edge to edge on the torso.
