Glitter Ink

Glitter ink is plastisol carrying large metallic or holographic flake, printed through a low mesh count for a heavy, light-catching sparkle effect.

Glitter ink carries chunkier flake than a standard metallic mix, particles often in the 0.008 to 0.015 inch range, suspended in a plastisol base and printed through a deliberately low mesh count, generally 60 to 86, since anything tighter would strain out or shred the larger particles before they reach the fabric.

Buyers reach for this on dance-team tees, cheer merch, and glitter logos on fashion tanks, anywhere the goal is a design that visibly sparkles and catches light from across a room rather than the subtler shimmer a fine metallic ink produces. It's a bigger, showier effect by design, not a substitute for metallic ink but a distinct step up in scale.

Because the mesh has to stay coarse enough to pass that flake, glitter ink physically cannot hold fine detail; pros steer clients toward bold block letters, simple shapes, or thick outlined type, and will flag upfront that a full-color glitter photo print simply won't separate cleanly through that mesh.

The common mistake is submitting intricate script or small text expecting it to sparkle crisply. The low mesh count required for glitter isn't a stylistic limitation the shop is imposing, it's a physical one, so the art has to get simplified before it goes on press.
